1.When looking for information for a research project, some students prefer to get theirinformation mainly from the Internet. Others prefer to mainly use printed materials such asbooks and academic journals. Which do you prefer and why?
When looking for information for a research project, I prefer to get my information mainly fromthe internet. First of all, when doing research online, a student can get access to massiveamount of information, and it is very easy to cross reference the information for accuracy. While in a library, you can only checkout or carry a few books at a time. Second, some booksand reference are hard to find in a library, for example, when a book gets checked out bysomeone else, you have to wait till it’s returned to read it, but resources online are always thereand ready for use.
2.If you could have any job or career you wanted, which would you choose and why? Give specific details to explain your response.
Well, speaking of a job or career that I would choose, it would definitely choose teacher for the following reasons. First, I have a great passion for teaching. For example, last summer, I volunteered for an educational organization called PEER as a teacher. I taught students English. I enjoyed the teaching process, and had a lot getting to know students. Second, teaching is a meaningful career. I believe an educator plays an importan role in shaping a student’s future. What’s more, I believe I was born to be a teacher because I have great patience, and I enjoy explaining things to other. All my friends and families have been telling me that I’d make a great teacher since I was young.
3.The woman has a problem that she can’ t find anyone to cover her shift tonight. She is going to see a school play with her friends, and she has already asked the man to cover for her. However, the man has a band rehearsal which is really important. He probably can’ t cover her shift.
There are two solutions for her. First, she could cancel her plan of seeing the school play with friends. The other solution is that the man could possibly talk to the band leader and see if he could miss the rehearsal. I personally think she should go for solution one, because it might not be appropriate for the man to miss his rehearsal since it’ s their last practice before their concert. If he missed this rehearsal, he might sound bad at the concert. As for missing the school play, although it can be a little bit disappointing, she could at least make it up next week since the play would still be on. Plus, if she talks to her friends about her special situation, I’ m sure her friends would understand, and wouldn’ t blame her for not joining them.
4.I think a good parent should be patient. Because children are always confused with the things around them, they ask questions every now and then. A good parent should be patient enough to give them answers. When i was very young, I always asked questions like “Why can airplanes fly?”,“Why can’t we fly?” and “Why the earth is a globe?”. My parents answered these questions patiently and if they couldn't, they would buy books that have the answers to my questions. I also think a good parent should be open-minded. In other words, they should respect their children's decisions when their kids are growing up. My parents always show their respect to my decisions. My major in the college is software engineering, but I decided to be an English teacher after graduation. My parents respected my decision and allow me to pursue my own interest. Thanks to my parents, I am patient and I respect other people.
