1.If you have opportunities to do something for good causes, which of the following would you choose?
If I can be a volunteer, I would choose to build a children playground, a place where children can play games and do exercise. This is because first of all, I am good at constructing. As a student majoring in architect, I know very well about how to plan a site, prepare the materials and carry out construction. It’s a great opportunity for me to apply theory into practice. Furthermore, I will get a strong sense of achievement. Children like to play games, but sometimes they don’t have sufficient space or facilities. With this play ground, they have one more place to get fun. I’m sure I’ll be proud of myself when I see they have a great time on the playground.
2.What do you think of home teaching? Home teaching is a teaching method that hires a private teacher/tutor and teaches them at home. Do you agree or disagree, and explain why?
I strongly oppose the statement. First, home is cozy and comfy, nobody denies it, but it’s not an appropriate environment for kids to be educated. Kids don’t get the chances to interact with friends or classmates of their own age. They might be frail in social skills like communication. What’s more, the only teachers they get to know are their parents or relatives who are no professionals. Primary courses not only include spelling, calculation, grammar but also literature, geology, history, arts, physical education and etc. Parents can’t know all of the stuff their kids need to learn, thus kids might get some faulty information, which is kind of bad for their future scores and performance in applying for high schools or universities.
3.When meeting problems is your daily life, would you like to solve it in a serious way or in a humorous way? Give your explanations in your response.
When facing problems in life, I think it’s really important to remain light-hearted rather than to get all super serious. I mean, first off, like, there’s already a problem, so why would we want to make our attitude make the problem feel worse, right? It’s better to just remain light-hearted, be optimistic, and try to make the best of the situation.
Secondly, if I get really serious and stressed out, that actually makes it more difficult for me to find a good solution. So not only does being light-hearted make me happier in the moment, but remaining light-hearted also helps me to find a better solution and resolve the problem quicker and better.
4.Some professors prefer to answer students’ questions immediately, other professors prefer to answer questions raised by students after class, which one do you prefer?
Well, I think professors should answer students’ questions after the class, because first, it can guarantee a good teaching quality. Most professors have a clear outline in mind when they’re in class. If one student breaks in with a question and the professor stops the lecture to answer it, it will interrupt his train of thought and he may not have enough time to deliver all the contents he’s prepared to students. Second, it's unfair to other students, because some questions raised by students are way too simple or some of them are even irrelevant. If professors spend too much time answering those questions, other students may feel bored or even annoyed. Therefore, I think a better way to deal with students’ questions is to answer them after the class.
5.Nowadays a great many students have their own computers and the university plans to offer them campus-owned ones. Do you think it is a good idea or not?
In my opinion, it is definitely a good idea and I have several reasons to tell. Firstly, this policy will reduce the economic burden of those students who haven’t bought one or can’t afford one. Computer is a vital tool for college students and they need one even in every aspect of their life, but it is not cheap. So campus-owned computers will be a good solution. Secondly, it will help the administrators to work out a tailored policy to improve the students study and living condition. They will know what the students focus on according to the track of the computers and online activities, thus come up with an accurate strategy to do them a favor in their daily study and life.
