1.Some people believe old people should not take risk and participate adventurous events as young people. Do you agree? Why?
I definitely agree with the point, old people should recognize the physical condition they are in. They are absolutely not at the age of doing anything recklessly without considering how much they can take. As adventures need people to have the energy and quick reflexes to deal with any unexpected situation, and I guess it's what exactly is missing in old people. And they should also be responsible for themselves and whoever that cares, they have to think many times before taking such an action to see whether what they do will put others into trouble or else they are very selfish.
2.Some people agree competition will motivate students, while other people think competition has negative influence. What is your opinion?
In my view, no competition, no progress.
Taking myself for example, now I am studying baking in a training school. Every month the chef will organize a competition on baking bread and cakes. The chef will have the comments for every student on the time we use, the taste we bake, the profile we make and the skills we adopt and so on, and chooses the top 2 products. At first, I always lagged behind, but gradually, just because of the competition and comments, I learned from others and became at adept at using proper skills when baking my foods. Looking back now, if there hadn’t been competition, I couldn’t have made progress so quickly.
3.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Students should be allowed to use calculators in a math class and during an exam.
Personally speaking, I think students should be allowed to use calculators when having the test. The main reason is that this can greatly improve the efficiency.
Some small numbers are OK. When it comes to huge numbers, such as over a hundred thousand, or even over a million and so on. Sometimes it is extremely difficult for students to get the exactly accurate result just by using their mind. However, if having the calculator, no matter the plus or minus, multiply or divide, just a type within seconds, you can get the accurate results. It may enhance students' efficiency. We have already created calculators. Why don't we use the highly efficient machine?
4. Some people prefer to buy new books. Some people prefer to buy used books. Which do you prefer? Please answer the question with specific examples and details.
Frankly speaking, I prefer to buy used books. Firstly, it is more economical. I remember when I was in the university, the textbooks are really expensive and even a single book can cost me a quarter of my life allowance. So I chose to get them from the students who have already taken the courses with quite reasonable prices and I passed on the books through to other students who need them. Though I am working now and earning quite decent salary, I still prefer to go to the second-hand bookstores or get some used books from my friends. I believe what matters is the content of the book instead of the appearance. And buying used books is definitely more friendly to our environmental.
