Describe an interesting talk or lecture that you went to
You should say:
When and where it was
Who had it
What it is about
And explain why you felt interesting
The most interesting and also the most impressive talk i have ever heard is about the beauty of literature. When I was in 10th grade, the school held a speech contest among teachers in the auditorium. The speech was delivered by Ms Li, the leader of Chinese teachers in my class. She is a very attractive woman with great charms. In high school, everyone struggled(拼搏) to learn maths, science, and chemistry and basically spent all their efforts doing homework on these subjects. But my Chinese teacher Ms Li acted in a diametrically opposite way.(反其道而行) Instead of stressing the importance of learning maths, science, and chemistry or complaining that students didn’t pay much attention to Chinese, her speech was about the beauty of literature. She pointed out that good literature work could not only improve oneself and cultivate(培育) the mind, but also could broaden our eyes (开阔眼界) and bring us more new ideas. She told us when we felt extremely depressed about school work or worried too much about our grades and our future, we could turn to literature for relief and relax a little bit. In a book, we could always find something encouraging and inspiring. She also shared some funny stories of famous writers and poets. One story I can still remember vividly is about Tao Yuanming! He was a poet in Jin Dynasty, about 1600 years ago. He was unwilling to bow to the superior in order to get the scanty pay.(不为五斗米折腰) The story is so interesting that I can still remember the facial expressions of my teacher today.
