Describe something given to you that you really needed
You should say:
Who gave it you
What it was
Why you needed it
When it was given
And explain how you felt about it
Well, speaking of this topic, the one thing I especially needed I guess was my mobile phone. It was a birthday present that my father gave me two years ago if my memory serves me well (如果记得清 楚). My mobile phone is very important to me because it helps me to communicate with (沟通) friends, family, teachers, and lets me keep in touch(保持联系) with the people I care about. I check my email, update my Weibo, send and receive text messages, play games, listen to music, take photos, and send messages to friends all on my phone. In addition, I can also do things like using important applications, reading e-books, and so on. Basically, I can do loads of things(大量) on my cell phone. I think the invention of smart phones has greatly improved the efficiency of communication among people. My cell phone plays an important role in my life as it enables me to communicate with my friends, family members, teachers and keeps me connected with the people I care about. But at the same time, I see more and more people becoming "low-headed" and spending too much time on their phones. I myself am faced with the same situation. I find that I also spend too much time surfing the Internet on my smart phone. So, you know, just like many other new inventions, the mobile phone is a double-edged sword (双刃剑) and we need to treat them rationally(理性地).
